Default Radio fm adapter

I bought my 350z with a older aftermarket radio and I want to replace it but it has a adapter and I was wondering if I keep it or get rid of it and here is a picture of it

Depends on if you have an XM subscription or plan on getting one. I think that FM modulator is so that you can tune in XM stations using an FM frequency since your current aftermarket head unit doesn't have XM capabilities. A lot of newer head units have an XM tuner built in, so you would not need something like that if you upgrade or don't plan on listening to XM.
