Default Any Comments on this HU?

I was looking for a 'modest' HU replacement. It had to have AUX in, Pre-amp outs (not major, but easier), able to play MP3's, and not costing too much. I think I found it. Any comments? I've heard that sony's stuff wasn't that good when it came to car audio.

Heres the specs:

Active Black Panel motorized fold-down faceplate
full-motion fluorescent display
plays CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and MP3-encoded discs
CD/MD changer controls
EQ7 (7-band equalizer and 7 preset tone curves)
Dynamic Soundstage Organizer
SSIR-EXA tuner
18 FM/12 AM presets
seek tuning
XM Satellite Radio controls (XM subscription, optional Sony XM tuner, and antenna required to receive the satellite radio signal) — service is available only in the lower 48 states, not available in Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories
4-volt front and rear preamp outputs
two 4-volt mono subwoofer outputs
high-pass and low-pass filters
CD text
auxiliary input
wireless remote
clock
23.2 watts RMS/52 peak x 4 channels
CD frequency response 10-20,000 Hz
CD signal-to-noise ratio 90 dB
FM sensitivity 9 dBf

I can get it for about $275, is it worth it?

OR this one:

Its a lower model and (from what I can tell) lacks only MP3 playback and instead of 4V preamp it's 2V (don't think it matters too much since I don't blast my music, I can always increase my Amp's gain.) Oh, and it's about 100 bux less and I like the looks better (looks like its not there when turned off)

Any comments?

i was actually considering both of these HUs, but i have heard a few bad things about the sony's going bad in about 2 years. Now im waiting for the alpin that can connect to my ipod that should be around this summer. Alpine is well respected for high quality, but there is alittle price premium.

See, I've checked Alpine and Clarion and they all require an additional module to have AUX in, where Sony has RCA inputs stock. One of the Major reason for getting a new HU was for AUX inputs.
I've heard that Sony wasn't that great (but this is just all hearsay) Has anyone purchased a Sony HU tell me if they had troubles with it?

I'm not personally a big fan of sony nor have i heard any good things about them. My brother had one for a year and couldn't stand the poor sound quality. But to each his own. It looks nice

Hmmm, I decide to look more into the Clarion line (seeing how many negative feedback on Sony's stuff)
What the differences between the DXZ HU? The DXZ545MP seem to have the same functions as the DXZ835MP. Except the price.

I just ordered my alpine 9815. Heard really awesome things about it. Prices have been dropping a little because the new Spring models of the Alpine line are coming out and I'm not willing to fork over $550 retail for a good deck.

I personally love the Alpine quality and reliability. If you wait a few months, the new 9833 line is suppose to be really sweet but expensive.
