im pretty sure the only way u can hook it up to the stock head unit is if u buy the fm transmitter, or if u have the tape deck then get the cassette adapter. Theres a few people on here with fm TX they say its good.

just spent the day in a few stores looking for a way to hook up my PC. same idea though. for your ipod, apple makes a simple FM transmittor that pops on top and runs off the IPODs power.

you can use that.

or... I didnt have the luxury, as I dont have an ipod. so I went to best buy and found a delphi FM modulator. it has an antenna in, and an antenna out, so you plug the cord thats in the back of the headunit into its in, and the out into the headunit. then it has a headphone jack that goes into the Ipod. also has a red and black for power from whatever accesory power source you want. no interference, its still through the FM signal, but its direct.

it was 50$ for the unit, and another 16 for 2 antenna extensions, if you want to place the unit in the glove box or something, depends how far you wanna go with it.

I use a cassette adapter, works really well. I just hate the wire sticking out of my tape deck.

ignore me, the damn this doesnt work. it would work but it wont turn on unless you use its 6volt out thats supposed to power the XM radio. if you have a way to fool it into thinking theres a base unit plugged in and turned on, fantastic, if not, it wont do anything.

I got it at best buy. but gonna have to return it and get a belkin FM transmittor(lesser quality) from microcenter.

Belkin is coming out with a new fm modulator that is adjustable. The current one is useless for me as all the 4 stations it can pick are taken in the detroit market. If you live in a big city I guess it doesn't work so great. Oh and here is a little coupon I found for the belkin website.

Belkin - New 50% Off Coupon
BELKIN has a new 50% off coupon code - 12345

its called uhhhh damn, forgot the name, tunes II or something, its something "II". and it runs the full range of stations and you select 4 standard stations for it to go between, its a digital readout. 50$ from microcenter or bestbuy(bestbuy by me didnt have it, but they sell it on their website)

I used the FM regulator and charger together from Monster for about $80. Sometime it was on sale on Apple web site for $65.

Alpine is coming out with a direct input system for the IPOD with which you can actually control the IPOD as if it were a CD changer directly from the head unit. Should be out this summer. The system also charges the IPOD.

I am using a wired FM modulator for my ipod right now. I know my installler did something funky with it, using two fm modulators in series to get better sound. I like it better than my cassette adapter, but ti still isn't great.

If I or he can ever find the wiring harness connector for a CD changer, he has told me he looked through wiring diagrams for the Bose Z's and knows how to make an adater the same as a blitzsafe module. I am looking forward to getting rid of the FM modulator.
