Leave tweeters or SNIP them? (need tweeter opinions)
I need some help deciding about my tweeters.
I am going to install the following
AudioLink LOC (behind stock HU)
Alpine 4x55 amp
Infinity Kappa in the front
Infinity Reference in the back
Infinity Basslink in stock locaiton
The remaining decision is regarding the tweeters. Should I
A) Leave the stock tweeters
B) Snip the stock tweeters
C) Replace the tweeters
Since the 4 Infinity speakers each have tweeters I am affraid options A or C will result in a harsh / over-bright system. But, if I only have tweeters down low in front will I lose what little imaging I have?
Please let me know what you think. If possible please explain WHY you think it to.
Thanks in advance,
AndyB

Andy, I'm doing the exact same setup, but with a different apm. I just started ordering the components yesterday.
Will we have to do any actual snipping of wires? I just figured when we hook up the LOC, the stock speakers/amps will no longer be getting any juice...

I unhooked mine. I put in an Alpine HU and 2 x200 amps with Concept Speakers and a 10 inch Kicker.
Left the tweeters for two weeks, and I was continually turning the treble down. The extra tweeters just kept overpowering the rest of my set up.
Went back and had the shop disconnect them but left them in place.
Much better sound without them.

Thanks for the replies. I guess the stock tweater get unplugged.
As for the audiopilot, I think replacing the amp(s) will disable it. There is an audiopilot signal that goes from the head unit to the stock amplifier. I _think_ the amplifier does the actual volume adjustments.
So, with a "normal" amp I think the audiopilot will not do anything, but I am not 10% sure.
