Question Head Unit Opinions ?

What are few good options for this kind of head unit:

3 pre-outs (so i can run my 5 channel amp with ease)
can play mp3 cd's
not sure what else?

I don't want to spend more than 300-400.

?

here's another question i have:

My amp is a 5 volt in, does that mean i have to buy a head unit with 5 volt pre-amp outs? Or can I use anything up to 5 volts? An Alpine 4 volt outs for example...

I have a Kicker 700.5 five channel amp:
Input Sensitivity: High Level 340mV-10V, Low Level 170mV-5V

4 volts out will work fine.

If I can accept 5 volt, isn't 5 volts out better quality sound?

I had the same question (post) and same setup (5 ch amp). I ended up getting the clarion DXZ835MP for like 200+

It plays MP3/WMA, 3 outs(4V), 1 in, color changeable and detachable face. It was super easy to install (just 5 connection + gnd)

The higher the output voltage just ensure less noise. 4v is more than enough. If you have good ground and decent RCA cables, 4v is more than enough preamp power. You won't hear much difference between 5v & 4v, I don't even think HU has 5v preamp (well not that I've seen)

Many Panasonic HU's have 5 volt pre-outs. Some high-end Kenwoods and Clarions have 5 volt also. On Crutchfield, i did a search for "5-volt", and all the 5-volt HU's came up. I guess I'll just do some more research...
