Find the sub!
Alright fellas, I got one for ya.
I am in need of a 10" subwoofer. It needs some pretty specific requirements, cost is not really one of them. I need a dual voice coil (4ohm x2) single woofer designed for a low volume enclosure (preferably around 1-1.5 cu ft). Power handling needs to be in the 200-500w range w/ peak handling well above that.
Since its a low volume sub, I know that bottom end will be sacrificed, but I'd still like to reach down towards 25-35hz., if I can.
This will be powered most likely by a dedicated PPI or JL amp. I am also not averse to aluminum cone or flat woofer; but none of these "box" or "pentagon" shaped woofers - cirlces only!
Please let me know what you guys can come up with, once I can find this woofer then I can start on the enclosure.
Thanks!

Ported or sealed?
Doesn't go as low as 25hz, but I always liked the Alumapro Alchemy subs. Also check out Crystal's CMP2 (I think that's the model) and Image Dynamics' IDMax. Those are my favorite subs. They're all very clean sounding subs.

Wow... The inifinity kappa perfect looks awesome. My only concern is that it has a freq spike @ around 70hz (sometimes where you might get that "flaring" sound out of a sub - ie it "sounds" louder than when it hits on all other freq's.)
Nonetheless, $329 msrp, 2ohm, 350w rms handling, and supposed response down to 18hz?!?!? I don't belive that, the rolloff is probably very sharp, but I think this is the sub for me (I especially like the shorter mounting depth than the JL.)
MrB thanks for your suggestions too, only the subs you opted for tended to require larger volumes.
Now to find a reputable dealer and get started on the "project". I will have more details as this thing develops.

Oh yeah, I forgot the Crystal requires a big enclosure. The Alchemy can be put into a 1 cubic foot box. The IDMax will still sound good with a 1-1.5 cube box. I used to work 3 years in the car audio industry and of all the subs I've tested, I love those subs.

Mr B,
Yeah, I worked in car audio for a couple years (used to manage a small store up in Nor Cal). . .
Anyways, I really appreciate all the input from you guys. I guess I decided to go with the infinity because I'm familiar with the brand, and I found a smoking price on a D10.1D Sub, which meets all of my criteria (low volume, tall excursion, massive powerhandling, good "value"). Also I got a deal on ordering both the sub and the fronts - and I have heard the perfect 6 1/2" seperates and they sound killer.
Onecoolee - I used to have 3 jl 10's powered by an xtant 1000w amp that I loved (this was in my 300zx). Comparing both the JL and the Infinity, I could get a better price on the Infinity.
The system is coming together. I've decided on a PPI 4x80w main amp for the fronts & rears (probably go with some basic Inifity's for the rears 6 1/2" coax). I'm going to have my shop pre-wire for a sub but not actually go with installing the sub for a few weeks while I build the sub box. This is going to be a pretty custom job, so look forward to seeing something pretty cool when I get it all wrapped up.
Thanks for all your help!

And for your sub question. I have always been a JL fan. I had 3 JL 12W6s in a cut through box in my old truck. I now have a single 10W6v2. It is "booming" - i believe it meets everything you are looking for.
