Infinity speakers/stock head unit/amp questions
I'm thinking about getting the Infinity Basslink 10" 200w sub, some Infinity REF6000CS 6.5" component speakers for the doors, and some Infinity KAPPA63.5I three way 6.5" loudspeakers for the back.
I don't really want to replace the head unit, I would rather just get an amp to power these speakers. What would be a good amount of power to toss at them/good amp reasonably priced?
If I was to replace the head unit (I would want one that would fill the whole area that the stock head unit takes up) what is a good head unit. I have looked at crutchfield, tweeter, and a couple other sites that I can't remember at the moment. Any help would be awesome, thanks.

I got Kappa 60.5cs and reference 6002i's. I drive them with a Phoenix Gold Tantrum 600.4 (75w rms to each) and they are LOUD. My gain on the amp is turned all the way down.
For head unit, I got an alpine 9827 (didn't want mechanical folding face). Make sure the preamp outputs (all 3 sets) are at least 4volts and yer good to go.

Just for reference. On order I have:
Polk/Momo C400.4 4 channel (75w rms to each) amp which will power kappa perfect's in the front and kappa 2-way in the rear. Then a Polk/Momo C500.1 (500w rms) to a Kappa perfect 12" DVC sub (400rms) which I'll run at 2 ohms.
Headunit is a Pioneer 850MP, doesn't take up both DINs though. The only nice one I've seen that takes both DINs up is that Sony one from Japan.

I went with the 62.5i for that reason. Putting the 3 ways right behind your head could sound harsh.

Basically here's what I think, and also the thing that I did.
If you're going to get a sub....get the 2-way's...do not get the 3-way's...it's a waste of money. The 3-way adds lows' compared to the 2-way which only does mid and high. If you have a sub, you want to pretty much cut off your bass to your speakers.
If you aren't doing a sub, stick with the 3-way, that way you can kick out more bass to the speakers.

I have Infinity Kappa 60.5cs components in the doors and Infinity Kappa 62.5i 2 ways in the rear. I think they sound great. The highs are a little too high though, But im impressed with the sound quality so far. As far as a HU, I went with the Pioneer Premier DEH-P850MP. This is a great unit. It has a ton of features and it looks really great. It plays mp3's, WMA's, is XM ready, has changer controls, 3 sets of preamp outputs, etc. I bought mine online for about $350. I would recommend this HU.

I decidd to go with 62.5 in the doors and 6002i in the rear since they are a little less bright than the 62.5.
An overly bright (too much highs) system gives me a headache.

I just installed the INfinity 63.5i in my doors.
You cannot use the old speakers as a spacer. They are too high and will hit the door grill.
One would need a spacer that is about 0.8 to 1".
What I did was cut a 1/2" spacer out of plywood and and 1/2" dense rubber spacer so that there would be some cushion. I then screwed through the rubber and into the plywood creating a very tight set.

Yes you CAN use the old speakers in front as spacers. I did. Just cut out the "guts" of the speakers at the base of the coil of the old speaker. LEAVE the "arms" that held the old speaker coil. These help hold the new speakers. I used that and my best friend, JB WELD. My new speakers are stealth and sound awesome.
