Basslink Any Good?
I am thinking of putting a sub in the stock locatoin of my Roadster. Is the Basslink a good solution? How is the sound? I am usually skeptical of the performance of all-in-one type of products.
I am going in TODAY to plan my install which includes a basslink in the stock location on my roadster. Actual install will be in a week or two I think. (hopefully before ATCO)
Before I bought it I read a bunch about it. People on the various 350z boards are very happy with them. For the money the bang for the buck is huge. The Basslink also gots good reviews in a couple of magazine and web sites.
One thing Infinity did to increase quality and hold down the price is use a servo design. It measure the woofer "cone" location and corrects the power to make sure it does what it is told. (oversimplification, but you get the idea.) This is only possible in an all-in-one unit. Seperate driver units typically don't have encoders for this type of feedback. This servo style design allows more performance for the $ (IMO).
There are better setups for sure, but for the money it is tough to beat. If you buy a decent sub and an amp big enough to drive it you are gonna spend more.
If you want the best sound quality you would probably need a custom enclosure, driver, and an amp. That is gonna cost a lot more.
All of the above is just my opinion of course. YMMV.
