That looks awesome! Can you hook up a TV antenna or something like a rear view camera?

Yeah. Its TV tuner ready. You will need to buy an antenna. Go here to see all the detail infos...

Yeah, rear view camera too. See the 3rd pictures with all the extra inlets. Extra meaning they are available for plug and play after the install. For now, heres where I have my AV input and outputs mounted inside the the center consol on top of the AC control. Later on I will drill some holes on the side of the center consol for them to stick out. I guess you can plug you DV or PS2 that way if you dont want to hardwire it.

Is there any way to make it mount more flush? It seems to stick out just a little to far.

Thanks for the Pics..

Overall impressions? How about a short review? Was it worth the 1200?

Does it have a GPS built in also? Hows that work?

Thanks!

Yes you can, it will take any video source that you can connect via standard rca type connections. You would have to have that source operated through another control/button, and you can select the video source at the head unit.

It can defintely be flush mounted, we're still working on a cleaner custom trim plate, however this looks pretty good for the moment.

Also my complete system is underway this week, nav, sirius, 20gb keg, amps, subs, custom box, bye-bye spare.

"stop" them from stealling it, nothing.

However it's ISO installation requires that you basically get the whole dash apart, and start yanking everything or you would have to gently unscrew over half a dozen screws which takes time.

I have a few extra screws just for this purpose.

It's not installed with those "quick" release clips where you just insert the pronged thingy and slide the unit out.

Your quick thief may think about and go for it, but not likely.

A knowledgeable thief is not going to bother unless you have your car in the middle of nowhere.

That's what insurance is for anyways...

A part of the problem you're facing right now is the installation, you need to tweak the positioning a little and then the trim needs to get filed down here and there.

There's a couple things you can do, let me grab some pics of hoe mine is installed if I can do that (i'm super busy these days) and see if you can reinstall yours to match.

You can take your car down to Mobile connection and they can "adjust" it for you for a very reasonable labor charge.

Since you took care of me/us with those cooling plates, I may be able to bridge a part of the labor by allowing you to arrive, strip down the bulk of the console there, and that way they can do the straight work vs all the labor in and out.

Normally shops don't like DIY because of the problems that can arise. However since you are comfortable enough, and apparently didn't burn your car down, I'm sure I can get you a DIY pass, and let them just take care of the unit itself.

let me know if you'd be interested in that.

Thanks again for the cooling plate!

Also, My trim plate is going to be 86'd at some point, perhaps I can send you mine if Mobile Connection doesn't want it for future "basic" installations.

In either case, let me know!

how is the interface during cd playback? Are there any visualizations? Or do you just see the blue screen with the ugly buttons? If you have any pics it would be appreciated!

Great taste in head units Phat and Alpine =)

Alpine... U are going to love it when you get everything else installed with the head unit....

phoenix... There's actually two different screens... one is just plain blue with the control buttons on the screen and the other is a different bluish screen with designs and u can use the buttons on the side...

But u can also play video or DVD or Nav screens while playin something else.

I love this head unit... =)

That has been the one let down from my dvd-911 to the ddx 7015 unit.

There are no "real" visualizations, you can have that background you see in my photos, or you can have the menu commands up that you can see in Phats.

Obviously there is a way to get at that background, I'm actually requesting some help from Kenwood here... Who knows how that will go.

You know I've been having a problem with my user name now since I've switched over to Kenwood....

Do you have this deck or other Kenwood Equip?

This user name has been online since 1988 and it's been hard for me to let go of it. I in fact had a ton of Alpine equipment and now it's sad for me to say I've given up on Alpine due to lack of features, and the rising costs of their equipment for no particular reason other than the name.

As Sizong mentioned you can listen to one source, and watch another, of course you have a ton of legal issues here so "buyer be warned"....

since you can play one source and watch another .. it would be possible to play/watch a club visualization dvd from a ps2 input and listen to music from the in deck cd... correct or no ?
