Default XM installer in SOCAL? Suggestions?

I can't stand it anymore. I miss my XM. I want to get the the XM radio RF thingy installed.

I would like to get it mounted in the spot where NAV would go and I want one of those new super "tiny" XM antenna's out back on the roof.

Anyone know of a dealer in the valley or even in the Santa Monica area that knows our cars?

Thanks.

Mobile Connection in San Fernando.. They've done a few site members cars ( including mine ), i'm 100% satisfied with the work they've done.

Try Car Toys in your local area. XM Radio actually has their own brand of radio now with a very small antenna. Radio fits "perfect" in NAV area w/remote. No need to place antenna on the roof - takes away from the lines of the "Z". Have them mount it on the rear strut.....it's hardly visable through the window & yes, reception is 99.9% of the time. Glad my dealer didn't find me a "Z" with stock equipped satellite radio...I would hate to look at that big "wart" on the top of the car. No problem picking up stations with lots of hills, trees, & mountains...oh yeah, rain too! It's a very sweet system - wouldn't be without it now. Can sign up for the XM on-line once install is complete...took about 2 hours. The whole package was about $350...not including my year of XM.

Post what you decide to do.

Does this system use a FM transmitter? I guess it would. The 2003 Bose 350z systems don't have the XM input.

Well XM has a better chance of sticking around. They have more customers and better marketing.

They were first out the door so I tried them. I have listened to both and now that they both are commcercial free they sound the same.

I would not be upset with either. Except that I know Sirrius is having a hard time getting any land based transmitters happening. XM has towers all over; especially in LA. So you very rarely drop signal. Even in parking garages.

I have sirius and I wouldnt worry about it not having towers, well in LA anyways. Ive had it for over a year now and I never had a problem getting signal. But yea cant go wrong either way.

Yes, my transmitter is actually bolted on to the bottom of the shelf tray in the glove box - no storage lost. Tune the radio station to 86.7 or something like that and regular radio is history. I haven't changed mine back nor have I had to listen to one of my 6 cd's in the changer. XM is more popular - and our new Z71 has it so we get a discount on pricing too.

I went to Car Toys as recommended by the dealer & got the dealer install price plus the kid had done several other 350z's. I told him to mount the antenna on the strut - said he would recommend that to anyone else now that he saw it doesn't take away from the "Z".

How does it sound? Any hiss or reduction in clarity compared to the changer?

Right now I am using my iPod via tape adaptor. So yes, there is hiss. But you only here it when you're sitting idle and the music is quiet.

What I LOVE about the iPod is that I can use it's built in EQ to help BOOST the Bose system. So now I can have nice loud bass and clear highs no matter what the volume. The Bose compensation thing can't compensate when its getting blasted by that EQ.

And as long as there is no distortion I am happy. I was surprised how great the Bose actually sounded once playing through the iPod. The EQ REALLY helps wake it up.

Be nice if those stand alone XM things had bass and treble controls too. Then we could do the same thing.

That depends on your music preference.
