Default HELP!!!!! Infinity/Diamond/MB/Boston

Im getting the kenwood ddx 7015 headunit and needing opinions on speakers. Was going to get infinity perfects but many recomend Diamond Audio, MB Quart, and Boston Acustic. Havent had a chance to listen to any yet...the sound area wasnt set up with the speakers i wanted to listen too(figures ) and nobody sells infinities.(dealer said they started lacking in quality and diamond sounds better) Please help and give me your opinions on these speakers if i should rule any out or definetly go with one brand over another!

I"m a big fan of Boston Acoustic. That's the only components I'd go with. Haven't had a chance to listen to a set of focals. From what I've read, they rock.

Diamond Hex series are nice speakers, the rest of their lineup is overpriced for what you get.

MB Quartz are nice if you like over boosted mids and harsh tweeters. It seems a lot of people like them but then again, those who do are also blown away by my stereos so whatever...

I personally run Bostons in all my cars (have for years now) and I can't say enough about them.

I'd also look at Image Dynamic and Dynaudio speakers as well if you want great sounding componenets. These two and Boston are the only ones out there I personally like for under $1G. The Diamond Hexs should be considered if you can get a deal on them, otherwise their $500+ price tag is just too much...

From what I told....Kappa Perfects are awesome....but they don't compare to boston, mbquartz, or focal.

Thanks guys. So basically Boston and Diamond HEX are my best bet then. Focal is too expensive for me right now so thats not an option. Ive heard a set of boston before and i do admit they are pretty clear though the set i heard was alittle harsh with the highs(may of been lack of tunning). But ive never heard any diamonds before.

Component speaker choice is, of course, completely a matter of personal taste. But, as you asked for opinions, I'll give you mine. If you don't underpower them, the best components out there are the Dynaudio 3-way component sets. They are also the most expensive. Next, IMHO, would be the Focal Utopias and their Polykevlar series is a close third behind the Utopias. Again, you mustn't underpower them. Next, I would place the Boston Acoustic Pro series (I like their Rally series too), MB Quart, and Diamond Audio Hex series. They are all good, but definitely have their sound differences.

Finally, do not underestimate how speaker location/installation can affect performance. Things like path length differences can really color a speaker's sound.

If money were no object, I would buy the Dynaudio 3-way system. I would place the larger woofer (7" or 8" depending on which 3-way set) in the stock door location. Slight modification of the door opening is necessary. Then I would place the smaller woofer (4 1/2") and the tweeter in a kickpanel enclosure. Run about 200 - 250 watts RMS to each side. Then, enjoy nirvana. A 350z.com member by the name of Nizl did pretty much this installation. Do a search if you want and check it out. VERY NICE!
