The antenna on the Z is power amplified....it needs a +12V input.

i got the 9835 head unit, and it is easily the sweetest HU ive ever had, and i had an older alpine and a recent kenwood excelon unit, the 9835 has so many options its ridiculous, but then again i spent $575 at hifibuys for it (18mo same as cash)

I got the 9835 and love it.....parametric eq and crossover are awesome

You were absolutely correct! I hooked up the power antenna wire and PRESTO! all my stations come in crystal clear. Thanks!
