Default 5 Channel Amp

I am about to purchase an entire system for the Z and planned on a 5 channel Amp to power both sets of speakers and one 10"Sub.. My problem is, the new receiver has front and rear preamp outputs but no sub preamp output. Is that going to be required in order to power that Sub as well? I'm not a big audiophile! thanks

You don't need the extra sub output. You can just split either the front or rear outputs to get the signal for the sub. However, this will limit your ability to adjust the sub volume on-the-fly from within the car unless you have a separate gain control for the sub.

The amp will automaticly take the 4 inputs and amplifiy the sub channel. You will have to adjust the sub gain on the amp to control the output level. You will though, have some bass control from the head unit by raising or lowering you bass control.

I am going to do the same situation in my 350 as well. What amp are you choosing?

All my speakers are JL audio but I havn't decided on an amp yet?
Also, all the 5 channel amps I have seen so far are pretty long.(almost 20 inches). So i will be glad to see where you put that thing. I am going to try to do my install next weekend.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input guys. As for the Amp, I havent deceided. All speakers are Infinity Kappas, and I may end up with an Alpine MRV-450 Amp. If I make a box for the sub in the trunk, i'll put the amp behind the stock sub location, if I put the sub there instead, i'll have to find another place for the amp.

well after much debate I decided to go with a new HU. I install the amp yesterday and the rear speakers. The new front speakers will be here tomorrow. I will shoot some pics when done. So far the equipment is a s follows

HU = JVC ??700
AMP = Memphis Belle 5 channel (55x4 , 400x1 )
Speaker Rear = JL Audio TR650's
Speaker Front = JL Audio VR650's
Sub = Alpine 10" R Series 2+2Ohm

I hope to get the head unit put in today. Maybe I can get the sub done too
