Default Passport 8500

I have a Passport 8500 and I bought a Solo S2 when I bought my Z so I put the 8500 away for about 6 months and when I also bought Infiniti FX 45 I wanted to put the 8500 in it but it is displaying on the screen needs to be serviced. It was working fine when I stored it away in its case. Has anyone ever had to send their Passport 8500 or any of the Escort Passport products to there Ohio plant to be serviced. My concern is sending it to them and it getting lost in the system. I guess Im just a little paranoid. . thanks in advance.
