Default Window down option with aftermarket alarm...?

I have recently install the Viper 790XV. I wanted to know is it possible to program the window down option on the after market remote? Or am I stuck with using the factory remote to use the window down option. Any information is appreciated.

I just had the same alarm installed and they had to disable it or it would roll the windows down when disarmed / up when armed.. luckly i never even knew about the windows down option until they told me about it... however the key still works in the door to unroll them

This feature is pretty easy to add. If you have door locks (lock / unlock) hooked up then there isn't much more to be done.

The windows are controlled by longer pulses on the lock / unlock wires. So, if you have two AUX channels you can wired them in parallel with your doorlock wires. If you only have 1 AUX channel you can use a relay to multiplex the output.

Here is a diagram of how to do it:

I'm not sure on the Viper alarm (should be the same I would think), but my Compustar alarm allows you to roll the windows up (as well down), which is a nice feature to have. The consensus on this forum about a year ago was that this function (ie windows up) has been disabled on factory remotes as it creates a potential for liability (see "Cat in the Sunroof" ad below) against the car manufacturers. In addition you may also be able to "pop" the locking gas cap and the trunk with your remote.

There is a mod availible to add windows up to your OEM remote that will be out in the next couple of weeks - there are a few Zs that have it already - Check out www.KPtechnologies.net
