i have a 04 Z-Roadster Non-Bose HU.....

how can i make it sound better by keeping the
stock OEM Head Unit?
i like the stock look on the dash.....

should i just upgrade to better front component speakers?

i'm planning on not spending too much money....
i saw a 6.5"component system for 150 dollars....

will this upgrade alone help the sound in my car?????

Best bet would be to replace the stock hu. You can have kick a$$ speakers, but a crappy hu will make the sound like crap. Just my $.02

 

The HU has to go. Here's what I did:

You can read the list of what I put into my stereo in my signature. I did everything but the head unit at first thinking I would be happy. I eventually changed the head unit because it skipped when I played CDR's. All I can say is it sounds 100% better after changing it. I know you liked the factory look, I did too but you will be much happier if you get it out unless you like poor sound quality.

Replace it. This looks as stock as the factory one IMO. or close enough for me.
