I really don't have much experience with this stuff, so I don't know if it is easy to do or not.

What do I need to get a laptop to go through an external monitor mounted in the nav. compartment and the sound to come out of my stereo speakers?

The HU is an Alpine 9833, as of this point I have no monitor yet.

Any suggestion of what I need to set this up would be great!

 

As far as video, I think you just need a S-video cable, but the monitor would have to have an s-video input. Or maybe try to find an s-video to a/v cable, then run audio from monitor to the headunit, that might work. Hope this helps...
