Where are you building the boix, and what shape? I made my first one without fleece, and it turned out better in some ways then when I used fleece....

I prefer cotton to fleece because it requires less resin and stretches better IMO.

Yep, good 'ol cotton is the best stuff I've ever worked with. I find that you need at least a couple of layers to give the degree of rigidity required for a speaker box though. I personally use 3 layers as standard. Any fabric store should have good stock. I'd get a bit thicker cotton if they have it, but the density of a good t-shirt should be about right. Good luck!

Hey thanks all, im gonna look into using some cotton instead. How true , fleece soaks up so much resin. One more question, does cotton expand pretty thick like fleece ?

Of course, fiberglass is stronger than both... It's the cloth+resin that determines the strength, and they don't make boats out of fleece or cotton... The only reason to use the fleece or cotton is if you need to get an odd shape that you can't get with the fiberglass mat or cloth. Of course, it is cheaper, but you'll have to use more resin to get the same strength (which means the box will be heavier than one made out of fberglass).

That's my understanding. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep, Dissident's right. He makes a good point in that if you're making a standard shape, IE flat side to an enclosure, you should use fiberglass matt or fiberglass cloth. If the shape is non-standard (the only kind I've ever used glass for, btw), you should use multiple layers of cotton cloth. Regards to the weight, I've never tested that, but I wouldn't doubt it. Itt does make sense to me. Again, good luck!
