Default check engine light after audio install

after installing some audio stuff, i noticed that the "service engine soon" light was on. the installer pulled the related fuse under the hood and the light went away. so far, the light has not come back on.
was this the correct way to get the service engine light to go away? or should i have went to a dealer to check it out?
any comments/advice would be welcomed.

If you tested the radio while that nice white box with all kinds of controls in it was not hooked up, you would get a CEL. Nothing to worry about.

I had the same thing happen to me when I had my new head unit put in. I told the dealer that the light just came on and wanted to make sure there wasn't a problem. The dealer reset the computer and everything was ok.
He did say that will happen when you fool with the electrical system like putting in a new head unit!!! The dealer was cool and didn't charge me.
