Infinity Perfect 10VQ
I just purchased an Infinity Perfect 10VQ subwoofer which I was planning on mounting in the stock Bose location to find out that the screwholes don't line up with the drilled holes on the bracket. Anyone else purchase this sub? How/where did you mount? Maybe I should just go custom enclosure? Any suggestions?

I'm interested to see how it works out for you.
Where are you planning to place the amp?

I may end up doing that, BUT ... the Infinity Perfect 10VQ can operate in low power mode suitable for free-air use by removing the lowQ pole piece from the magnet. Another user on the board has had good results after using some dynamat and spray stuff. I am not going for trunk rattling, just good sound and maximum cargo space.

Just build an enclosure. I got a similar sub and wanted to test it out by mounting it to the stock bracket, but like you discovered it don't fit.
Plus it's not a free air sub, it'll sound terrible without an enclosure.
Here's my install

but didnt get the dimention right.. cuz I didnt buy the sub yet..
and so.. it didnt fit.. the magnet was too deep and was hitting the bottom.. Argggg just less the 1/4" away damnit..
It's a fiberglass/MDF box in the oem sub location..
any other good sub.. not as deep?

Build an enclosure for under the strut bar firing towards the rear. The Infinity subs really want a sealed enclosure, thats how I've found they sound best (and I've been through 4 different enclosures). I have two 10.1d Infinity Perfect subs and have them in a 2-chamber .75" mdf box I built to go under the strut firing to the rear. I have also found that the subs sound best (to me) with .75ft3, a full 25% more cubic volume than recommended by Infinity. Whatever you decide, best of luck, just sharing some of my observations of the past 4 enclosures I've been through.

I think he, like me, is really hesitant to give up what little cargo room the Z has.
Thats the only reason that I'd put something in the stock location.
Which free air sub would any of you recommend if not the perfects?
