Default need advice on H/U and install...

Ok... I've decided Im going to try the Alpine CDA-9831 from etronics.com
1. will this fit my car?
2. what else will i need beside just the H/U? such as wiring, etc... and whatever i need to fill the empty space
3. i have the base system in the z...will this help the sound a lot..i seem to be getting an unclear signal
4. can i install this myself?
...also if i need any other wiring/plastic to fill the space can i get that at best buy or something instead of having to order that too? thanks for ya'lls help I just dont know the first thing about audio except that i love my music! thanks

You will need a dash kit. A wire harness is optional. Both could be bought at local stereo shop. No best buy in hawaii so couldn't say. It will sound a little better, not a lot.

I preach this everytime it's asked. The Alpine hu has a 1bit DAC. The Clarion DXZ745MP/DXZ945MP has a 24bit DAC. There's no comparison between the two. The Alpine seems to be the more popular brand though.

Default 350z Dash Kit

Hi Memphis,

Yep, this should fit into your dash. You'll need a dash kit and wiring harness. The harness is actually optional, but I would never try to cut up my factory harness. Just one man's opinion. With regards to the dash kit, IMHO, this is the best dash kit out there:

And for $10.50 from buy.com, can't beat the price either. Don't think they have the wiring harness, but can't be a hard thing to find. Think any upgrade from the factory base system is a step in the right direction. With regards to the install, if you're handy and careful, sure. It's something that's easily enough done. Just take care in how you connect your wires (ie, use insulated crimps and a wire crimper tool!) and you'll be fine. There're plenty of tutorials on this site about how to do the job. Good luck!
