I'm pretty much a newb when it comes to systems and subs and i don't want to ruin my cars electical system so any help would be appreciated.

I'm planning on purchasing a 10" RE XXX sub and haven't decided on an amp yet, but it will probably be between 1000 and 1500 watts. My questions is, will i need to beef up my electrical system at all so that i will not cause damage? I'm assuming i will need to get a capacitor, but I'm not sure if i will need to buy a battery. Also, what's the largest size amp I could safely get w/o needing to beef up the electrical system?
