Default Pioneer AVIC-N1 for less than $1,500.00

I have read on a few posts that people are looking for Head Units with DVD for less than $1,500.00, so I thought I would share some information with you.

I ordered the Pioneer AVIC-N1 from Wells Digital at :

http://store.yahoo.com/wellsdigital/...ectronics.html

The cost is $1,449.00 plus shipping.

With the Navigation system included and the vehicle monitoring system (which is just cool as hell), I don't see how this system will not just go through the roof in sales.

Just thought I would spread the word.

Ditto, Love mine so far. I paid $1549 for mine.

Make sure you get Version 1.1. If not you will need to register with Pioneerelectronics.com and they will send you Version 1.1.

So is this the bottom line for a hu? Any other models that's comparable? I am partial to Alpine units but I can't seem to find a model that does nav, dvd, and mp3.

Does your system make a loud beeping noise when you start it up. I heard that thier is a new software program V1.2. Is that true?

This isn't a bottom line product at all. It is normally $2,000.00 plus installation. I just wanted to let people know that it was available for a much more reasonable price.

The fact that this comes with the Navigation system included pays for itself in my opinion...especially since the dealer wants $2,000.00 for the factory Navigation system.

That is Version 1.0, very annoying.

Pioneer will replace Version 1.0 with Version 1.1. That fixes the beeps and a few others. I am pretty sure the latest verison is Version 1.1.

I didn't mean bottom line as in a low end model. I meant more as in 'the one' to get.

Bets bang for the buck, in my opinion.

Where else can get DVD/NAV, MP3 player, Vehicle Dynamics, ect for that price.

Heck you can even hook up a reverse camera to this thing?

I got the optional voice kit and it works absoulutely fabulous, better than OEM voice Nav's.

anubyss, the new Eclipse unit is being marketed well, but I don't know anyone that actually has it yet. There are two models that are available this year. There are some write up's on them on this site. A lot of people seem to like the Kenwood, also.

I wanted to the most for the money and with Nav and Vehicle Dynamics included, it is a really good deal. The guy that installed it for me offered a visor monitor for the passenger side for an extra $150.00, but I really have no need for it. The system is equipped to run additional monitors, which I'm sure a lot of units are.

The biggest thing I have noticed since the installation is, the Bose system sounds better now than it ever has. The EQ built into the head unit really makes a difference.

Cain96,

In version 1.1, once you load the software and go into the set-up for the Nav system, you can turn that beep down or turn it off altogether in the HARDWARE VOLUME portion of the settings.

Sony and Pioneer posted lower than expected financial results today (7/28/2004).

Pioneer said that it is suffering due to delays in releasing it's NEW CAR NAVIGATION SYSTEM.

I have read reviews that complain about the AGE of the navigation maps used by this unit.

Can these maps be upgraded?
or
Should we wait for Pioneer's NEW system?
Also
1 review said that this unit has a very noisy fan.....that is irritating. Can anyone verify this?

From the paperwork that came with the system, upgrades to the Nav discs are available through local Pioneer dealers when available. You load this just loading software on a home PC, so I'm sure you can load updated versions. Otherwise the stock system from the dealer would eventually be outdated, so I am sure all of the manufacturers thought of that.

I don't have a problem with the fan on my unit at all. Its easily covered by the speakers even at low volume.

If you get the AVIC-N1 within the last couple of months, you probably already have the latest software (v1.1). If you have one with v1.0 and registered with Pioneer, they would have sent you v1.1 for free. When you put in the new disc (which replaces your original discs... you're supposed to send back the originals), the unit detects the updated firmware and automatically updates. Software updates do not include map data changes, only firmware of the AVIC-N1 unit.

I visited a store for a demo. The store owner was proud to show me his recently installed unit in his Mercedes. I do not know what software version he was running. We searched for my business location. It pointed to an address that we were using FIVE YEARS AGO.

Has anyone else noticed this problem?

I would jump and purchase this today, but xswl0931's comment and this demo result has me concerned.
