Default what causes POP false alarms?

my x50 POP goes off a few times a night and I heard its because of car taillights. I'm hoping someone knows specifically which kind of cars, or if there are other things setting it off.

thanks

I know certain cars suck as the lexus that have the laser guided cruise control sets off some radar detectors, not sure about in your case tho.

I'm assuming POP means laser, right? If so, you are correct. There are certain types of neon (?) brake lights used on many cars now days. The light wavelenght put out by those brake lights happens to be close enough to what police laser uses to set off laser detectors. Real pain in the rear.

Along those lines, my Alpine lcd screen also sets off my laser detector. This means I can't have the nav door open and my detector running at the same time. I'm guessing it's because of the back light in the screen. I read that many lcd screens use a neon type of back light, and that's what does it.

It's not laser. It's a new type of radar.

What radar/laser detector do you have? I was thinking about getting the alpine lcd but I can't live without my radar detector
