This is one of the top of the line units. Ran $900 new, now worth about $450.00.

I am selling mine for $200.00. If you are running a high end system, this is one of the best.

Pioneer 9300, comes with steering wheel remote.

Could you post a pic of the steering wheel remote? I couldn't find one in Google Images.

I like my alpine 9815, it is last years model though. It was about $380.

After a quick look around it looks like the Alpine 9833 would be pretty sweet.

Who knows if this will help. But I am going to be buying the Alpine 9835 and depending upon where you buy it, the HU could fit your budget.

It's a really tough marketplace and a lot of people are doing the same thing or making very "raver" oriented displays (red here, flashing blue there) and that's just not my style. I like integration.

So, the 9835 is currently capable of XM sat. radio and in the coming months with also handle Sirius. At the end of September (supposedly) the HU will also be able to directly integrate with the iPod.

Thanks for the link... Crutchfield should start matching prices because if their price for the 9835 was SOOO insane I would consider it because of their repuation, cust service, and free brackets.

But being over $150 more than competition, hell no.

How much of an impact can a head unit make on our stock speakers?

They won't make a huge diff. If you were to buy a quality amp for the stock components, it will sound better than just adding a HU. It will be pretty significant though. You have more control over the sound ie. eq, crossover.

My last 3 head units have been a Pioneer, and I just purchased my 4th for my 350Z. I got the Pioneer Premier DEH-P860MP. Great display, nice remote, MP3s, and very hi voltage preamp outputs. It is definitely in your budget, I got mine for just over $300 shipped on eBay.

I think all of alpine's latest stuff is great. I have the CDA 7995 I don't think its in production any more but anything similar to it would be good. Only thing to watch with the 7995 is it doesnt have an internal amp but some of the newer models do.

Stu46,

Is that a detachable face? Also what face template (kit ) will I need for the Z?

Edit: I think I found it, Metra 99-7402 Nissan 350Z 2003 Stereo Installation Kit. How about the wiring harness?

Thanks,
Tony
