Default Those With Knowledge: WX 7700-MDX

Hey guys... I'm finally getting around to upgrading the audio in my car, and I need a little help. I'm planning on getting the Sony WX 7700-MDX head unit, but all the threads I've done searches on for it are pretty old (some with the best info date back 1.5 years...) So I'm looking for some updated information.

1. Is this model in the US now, or is it still only in asia/parts of europe?

2. Where can I buy the unit now, that doesn't need the adaptor for the correct FM stations? I checked silivaparts.com, and their website shows they're not stocking this stereo... I went to melting-pot.com, and they're selling the system for $750... which is a bit more than most people have paid, and this system requires additional purchases such as the adaptor to work properly in the US... any other ideas?

3. After I get the unit, what additional equipment am I going to need to stealthily install it and have it working properly? Such as the Nissan double-din kit, etc?

...as you can tell, I'm not very high-tech and don't know much about car audio, so whatever help you guys/girls can give me would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance.

1. The model is only In Asia and in some parts of Europe.

2. The unit that you want is from Korea, It has the built in Adaptor. Unfortunately My girl In Japn got me the JN version I require the adapter. Where to buy the Koren Ver,? U wont find it cheap, I got the JN ver for about 450 US, I'll just buy the 50$ adapter and save a few $$. I shopped around and could not find it for less than 800$$ If you do decide to to get the Korean Ver, make sure that when u recieve it that it is in a red box vs blue. Blue is the JN ver. Red Koren Ver with adapter.

3: Additional Parts: Go to crutchfield, Order the Nissan Double DIn Kit, Thats about all you need. The stero is awsome

Pros; Great colors, rare, MD CD nice layout matches the gauge cluster very well.oh, you can even plug your cell up to it.
complaments....Priceless

Cons, Does not play CDR, And the freq thing depending on ver.
Sry about grammer, 2am and a bottle of Scotch...

get the korean one,

1. it doesn't need any extra hardware, it is literally plug and play,

2. as for getting it, i bought it from another member here for 500, i guess the best thing to do is either be patient about it or call silvia parts and ask them if they can get one for you.

basically N. covered everything you need to know.

QUICK QUESTION TO 7700 OWNERS.
1. DOES THE SOUND HEAR LIKE IT HAS A LOT OF TREBLE? IF SO WHAT SETTING FOR EQUILIZER DO YOU HAVE IT AT AND IF YOU HAVE AT CUSTOM WHAT KHZ OR DB, OR MHZ OR WHAT EVER IT IS DO YOU HAVE IT SET AT.

2. HOW DO YOU GET THE CLOCK TO SHOW UP WHEN YOUR LISTENING TO MUSIC?

THX

sangWL,

Do your radio stations come is correctly? like 107.9 is really 107.9 and not like 93.9? If so, then it sounds like the Korean version is the one to get..

So can you get a lower radio station like 90.9 (NPR) too? I didn't buy the JDM Sony because I like 90.9 and 107.9 and couldn't have both.

There is a meet up at Nazar's shop in NH this Sunday.. I'll probably be there... I would love to see that radio..

Okay... potential big problem here... I ordered the unit from Audio Cubes... and it comes with a free FM Modulator, so no big deal there. I contaced Japan Parts about the double din kit... an awaiting response. I ordered the harness from Crutchfield... fine... BIG PROBLEM??? Crutchfield called and wanted to let me know that their system says that my factory DVD Navigation will be disabled if I use the harness... WHHHHAAAAATTT???? There's no way I want to sacrafice the navigation to have an aftermarket HU... does anyone know the solution to this???

Also, I don't use the frequency shifter, the radio gets all the FM I personally want, the AM sucks, seems to be different stepping in the frequencies, but I don't really care, I listen to XM most of the time. For that it is great.

Who needs radio when U have a PC hooked up to the Aux. Does anyone have an English manual? Tired of sending my JN girl pics for translation.

Oh and the device needed to get the correct Freq is a FM band Expander, they only offer them in New Zealand run about 30$

U guys are correct it does play CDR's. THX

I don't see how the Nav won't work. Since the harness is just an adapter so you don't have to cut wires. The sound should pass thru and still come out on your speakers.
