Default Alpine iva-d901 and nve-n852a

Does anyone have this combination? If you do, how do you like it? I just don't want to go through the hassle of changing out the discs when I want to listen to my mp3s. Plus the increased number of pixels on the Alpine unit is a definite plus. Any input would be appreciated.

I know from previous ownership that Alpine units are awseome. I had A CVA-1005, MDA-5048 add on md w/ dsp, The 5201 dvd player, navigation, and 12 cd changer it was great. The graphics I think on the 901 are better than the touchscreen version., more interavtive graphics which I look for when shelling out that kind of cash! Now I am going to get the Eclipse AVN-2454 which has everything in one unit for 2100.00. If you are interested, go to alpine japans web site and look up the INE-W099 unit. It is a double din which would go great with the Alpine touch screen monitor (in Nav pocket) but it retails for around 2200.00 and I don't know if it will play DVDs--but it is nice. If you have any questions, just pm me!

It looks like it supports dvd, nav, md, and such but it I can't be sure that it's built in to it. I see prices ranging from 178,000 yen to 278,000 yen. I think I would still rather have the iva-d901 with the nve-n852a.

I had the IVA-D900 and Nav in my old car and I would never buy it again.

- it takes forever to start up
- you have to have the screen open to see the radio station/cd track
- you have to press buttons twice if the screen saver is running (once to get out of it and another to make your selection)
- the cd mechanism stopped working within six months of very little use

Damn. The only reason I want the Alpine is for the increased pixel count over other dvd players. I guess I'll have to find someone with the d901 to see if it's bearable. Thanks for the input.

I did forget one thing as mentioned above, when I first installed the Alpine 3da-w882 unit in my eclipse the mechanism jammed twice (after two units) After that i bought a Pioneer and then the Alpine Multimedia system.
