May the radar always be aimed at someone else. Thanks for the simple solution. I get my car in a few days and have been wondering how I was going to plug it in.

That's not so ghetto. I kinda like it.
Have you looked into the possibility of hard-wiring your 8500?

Yes, I considered hardwiring the 8500. I will see how this setup works. I not to sure on how to hookup the hardwiring...plus I have to order the kit for $30.

Doesn't the 8500 come with an alternate wire so that you can hardwire it yourself?

I hardwired my Valentine One (see my Valentine One Install thread) myself into the fuse box for $0.00.

No you don't. My installer used the SmartCord as is. Left the plug on and all. The coiled wire unwinds to be stretched the entire distance from the mirror, across the headliner, down the A-pillar and behind the driver's left kick panel (not kick plate) into the fuse area. I got it installed for $35. I spend more than that on eating lunch during the week and it was a no-brainer to just pay and get it done right.

My guy did it for free, while he installed my xenons for 50 bucks...... It took about 3 hours for the xenon install, and about 30 minutes for the radar install. I higly recommend that, it looks nice, and very inexpencive, and easy to do. Find a place for 20, 25 bucks....

why not just get a dc plug, 9V battery (rechargable), 9V battery clip and holder, double side tape or screw.

Just stick or screw the holder on the side or bottom of the radar. solder the clip to the plug. Plug in battery and plug, and there u go.

Bonus, if u get pulled over by the police, just pull the plug and throw the whole thing under ur seat.

Default Passport 8500 Delivered In Seattle

I have a nearly new Passport 8500 in the Carrying Case, with Manual, Warranty Card. I have been advertising for $200 including shipping, but for PNW buyers, I will deliver to you for $175. That's a great savings over retail plus sales tax plus shipping. PM me if interested.

What they did with it for an hour??? Took me about 20 minutes. And that including routing wires to the fuse box. Now, when people sayin you can wire it to the mirror wires, it should be even faster
