Question Valentine 1 Headliner Mount Problem

I installed my V1 much like a lot of people on the board by using the headline plug above the passenger shoulder. I did this about 2 weeks ago and have not really had a lot of problems until now. Everytime I take a hard turn or hit a large bump, the V1 falls out of the headliner and hangs there. For the life of me, I can not get it to stay up there for very long. Yesterday I took the headliner plug and wrapped it in masking tape and pushed it back in the hole. It seemed tight in there and wasn't really moving, but about 3 hours later I was driving hard around a corner and it fell out.

One thing I have noticed is that the plugs for my headliner are different than the pictures on this site. Particularly, Rahtok's plugs were shaped a little different than mine. I can take a picture of them when I get home, I just don't have picture with me at work. My Z is about a month old, so they must have changed them sometime.

My question is what I should do to secure it up on the headliner. I thought about trying to find some sort of anchor that will anchor it up in the celing, but wanted to see what others had done. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

you gotta hate those damn cost-downs ... nissan probably found something cheaper and now its not holding as well

if all else fails, you can surely get one of the plugs from the Nissan dealer, just ask for some new-old stock one, before the revision

good luck

Yeah, I have seen this method, I just like the clean look (call me ****) of the the V1 just hanging without a metal strap showing. I may end up going there, but for right now, I would rather find a better solution.

Thanks for the input!

Here is a couple of pictures of the clip. I think that becuase it is wide at the midpoint, that it must not be getting all the way into the roof after going through the visor mount supplied by V1. I tried hollowing out the place on the visor mount, but I am not sure I want to go much further.

Ah... missed this thread on this board. I posted a response on another board, but I think you ought to shave a bit off of the bottom of the burrs to see if it'll catch better.

This bit here...

Ok, I solved the problem. This weekend when I was at Lowe's I decided to go to the hardware aisle and see what I could find. I found a section of drawers that had odds and ends in them. One of the drawers contained automotive parts. Well, in that drawer, there was a full drawer of plugs like used in the headliner, so I found one like was used on the 2003 Z and bought it for something like $0.69 for two. It is black, but no one will ever see it, so it works. Anyway, thank you everyone for your help.
