Default BOSE Door speaker amps question

Hello all, quick question, I have replaced my BOSE HU on my touring Z w/ an Alpine HU. My next step is changing out the door and rear speakers, is the amp for the BOSE speakers attached directly to the back of the speakers? Reason being that I would like to use the factory wiring behind the radio instead of running wires into the door.

PLease let me know. Thanks!

I do believe that the Bose amp is for the sub only. The speakers are powered completely by the internal HU amp. So wiring to the wires at the back of the HU should be fine.

But I am not 100% sure on that one, only about 95% sure from reading the service manual.

Can someone pls confirm? This will save me the headache of running new wires to the door speakers. Thanks

Default There are 2 amps

In the bose system (stock) there are two amps.

There is an amp in the trunk (next to the spare) that drives the 4 small speakers (door and rear).

There is anither amp that drives the "subwoofer shaped object" behind the drivers seat. That amp is mounted near the woofer.

The Bose speakers are crap, well worth replacing even if you keep the standard HU.

Bimmer, all you need to do is re-wire the amp in the hatch to bypass the amp, it's a bit fiddly but quite a simple job. Can post pics, instructions when I get home if you want.

What I ended up doing is tapping into the factory wires just before the plug that goes from the kick panel to the doors. Pretty easy to do using a volt meter to determine which wire is which. I thought about tapping in to the wires right by the amp but I couldnt find the fricken Bose amp for the speakers, I know its in the rear but I just found it easier to tap the front wires.

Thanks for the info anyways.
