Unhappy My alarm is JACKED up..any help appreciated.

Whassup guys:
Just had the Clifford Avantguard 5 installed on my car. Everything was working fine, up until a day ago when I realized that when I press the lock/unlock on the pad it makes my rear wiper move from side to side--extremely annoying.

Because of this, I had my installer take off my aftermarket alarm and see if that was the problem. No problems there, the wiper will still move, no matter if you press unlock on the factory keyless entry or if you press unlock on the aftermarket alarm. In fact, even the inside door triggers don't lock or unlock the car when I press them. I have to manually enter and exit the car. I am pretty royally pissed! What can I do? I'm running out of options!

Someone, perhaps your alarm installer, reversed the wiring going to your T4 modulator.

Reverse these two wires and you should be fine.

What is the t4 modulator? Is this why it keeps moving the wiper blade in the back?

Thanks fuzzy

Ok,

So I went to the dealer and they say that it might be my bcm! They want $900 for that damn thing!

I can't believe it. There must be a cheaper fix. Please, anyone, anywwhere, please help me figure out a solution to this issues.

I can't afford that exhorbitant fee--hopefully one of you can help me out--my installer is completely lost and can't find the issue.

It makes no sense because it was working great up until yesterday when my car started trippin out...

Please please please someone help!

That's a really strange problem. If it is the BCM it should be covered under warrenty. The dealership will try to tell you the alarm messed up the BCM. They MUST prove it was the alarm. Have your installer go back through the installation and 'pretty' it up so that the dealership has a hard time finding any changes in wiring.

The wiring for the rear wiper motor goes through the combination switch before being interfaced over a parallel 8bit communication line to the BCM. Your installer shouldn't have been anywhere around that stuff. The dealership will not be able to prove anything in this case. Take the car to your dealer, show them the problem, and ask them to cover it under warrenty. If they won't cover it, ask them to put thier warrenty denial in writing so you can contact Nissan Customers Affair.

If Nissan CAN somehow prove it was the alarm then you are still covered, have your installer pay for it, especially if something was wired wrong.

Final option - Trigger a relay off of your UNLOCK actuator and break the signal to the washer motor. That may or may not work depending on exactly what is happening.

Thank you kevin for the great ideas--it's really strange because the alarm is working intermittently. I'll tell the installer to try what you have mentioned--he is a friend of mine, so I don't want to charge him--the dealer did automatically tell me that they will not warrant the problem. They also said that they will charge me $90.00 just to look at it . My dealer is pretty shady, but I see their point of view.

I guess I'll see if any of these solutions work. It's really trippin my guy out--the driver's side door will open, however the passenger's side will not. He says he has no idea what the issue is.

Sorry to revive this thread but I'm having the same exact problem. Only thing is, I don't have an aftermarket alarm. I was having a issue with my windo and replaced everything fine. It was working beautifully and now it's going bananas. When I press the unlock/lock button my rear wiper goes up and down, also there is a clicking noise coming from the ECU Area. I wonder what the hell the problem is???

Jes, I don't know how the hell they fixed it back then, as its been 4 years now. I just remember something about using multiple relays, and bam no problems since then. I never had to buy anything (bcm, ecm) etc.

Hope that helps. Sorry bro

After looking back I dont know what could have thrown it off. The stereo may have done it though, depending how they wired it, etc. As far as I know any even minute electric pulse in the wrong open circuit could have caused the problem.

(My background is electrical engineering). I still don't know what the exact problem was, and I'm wondering if during install if they had crossed any wires.

Have you tried resetting the ecu BOTH ways?

1) by unplugging battery
and
2) more importantly using the key in/clutch sequence (there is a detailed how to somewhere on how to reset it. you basically press certain pedals and put the key in the ignition at a certain time and presto).

That might solve the issue. I dont have any other info.
