Okay, I drive a 2003 G35 coupe 6 speed with the BOSE stereo. I hate the radio. Within the next two weeks I will have the entire stereo system replaced- EXCEPT for the stock head unit.

What I have:
A custom built sealed box to fit 2 JL Audio 10w3v2. I am still putting the final touches on the box, but the structure is built. It will fit in the trunk pushed all the way up to the rear seat, The box has almost no gap between it and the carpet of the trunk, it will allow me to use the area nearest the latch of the trunk. It looks really good.

What is ordered:
Two JL Audio 10w3v2 -2 ohm subs
JL Audio 500/1 mono- sub amp

What I need to buy:
JL Audio 300/4 amp
Component speakers (two sets)
I will probably not hook up the 6*9 in the rear due to the subs

I am trying to decide on what component speakers to buy, JL Audio are obviously looking good right now. Please give me some suggestions on $300 or less speakers (retail) that you know are good. I am installing a four channel converter to the stock head unit, I will run the output to each amp accordingly, and then I will be happy with my new stealth stereo.

If anyone has any suggestions or question please let me know. You all know this is not a cheap expedenture- I want to do it right the first time. I will post pictures of my box when it is completed (2 days or so), and I will post pictures of the progress along the way. Thanks for your feedback.

Change the HU. I am in your situation. I wanted to keep the stock HU (stealth looking) because I have many break ins. But I realized that after spending a lot of money on the system, I might as well change it. Just waitng for my order.

I got the alpine 9833.

Edit: Do you need a 4 channel high end converter (dave's engineering). I have one for sale. I bought it thinking i was going to stick with the stock HU.

i would tell you Focal, MMats, or Morel for your components but those are high priced. That is if you want Excellent sound Quality..
