Default Sub Woofer Questions

So I put a 10" in the factory hole behind the drivers seat and it would not stop rattling. I knew it wasn't the best setup to begin with, but I had an extra 10" lying around so I figured what the hell...anyways I took it back out because it was unbearable. I am going to do a custom installation, but without doing research I ordered an Audiobahn 12" and Audiobahn amp. I cannot figure out a good place to put the sub and amp where it could be displayed for car shows. I looked around on the forums and all I see are 10" Subs in the Z. Does anybody have a good looking 12" setup? If not I will just go with 2 10" and a custom box.

for car shows, more is always better.

lose the spare, build a sub-floor box.

Yeah but then where am I going to put the amp. The size of the box needed takes up that entire spare tire well.

put it anywhere you want. in the glove, the trunk. it's up to you. go down to a stereo shop and talk to some of the guys. they can take measurements and make recommendations. you can also search this site to see what other people have done.

Yeah I will probably end up doing that, and I have researched what other people have done, I am just trying to find a way to make the amp and sub visible.

Yeah I have gone through the measurements though and all that would fit down there is the sub box. I still have nowhere to put the amp.

a single 12" sub and amp will easily fit. there's about 2 cuft of space. i have 3 10w6v2 and 5 amps on display in the trunk.

Do you have any pics? The Audiobahn web site said that for my box to be 6.5" tall it would have to be 22"x28" to get the right cu.ft. Did you take the styrofoam on the sides out?

Now I see why you know so much about the rattles Stu. Did you help design and build that enclosure?

a combined effort between the shop owner and myself. more if his idea though. i picked out the equip. i knew i wanted 3 subs for the more symetrical look. IMO, 2 subs doesn't look as good as 3. i also wanted to display the amps around the subs. so he designed the amp rack. so, pretty much told him what i wanted and he came up with the design. that's an old pic. now i've got some reflective plexi in there.

Man, that is a SWEET setup. Good job. Thanks for the advise. I will recalculate it with the styrofoam out.

I built a tiered box that fits competely under the stock carpet. I'm in the process of putting a cover of them with removeable windows (plexi) I have 2 PPI Pro 12's and two PPI amps. Box is about 2.3 CF ad made of mostly 1/2 HDF. (Top is 3/4 with 1/4 inch built inside the box for flush mounting) When everything is finished I will post pics. This is my fifth night after work building and installing everything, the end is finally near.
