Okay here the sad story....


Picked up my x50 a few weeks back. Got the Mirror mount from MIKE3348 (mount rocks, btw...thanx Mike). Got irritated at the curlique power cord disrupting the feng sui of my cockpit. So i went the mirror power wiring solution route as seen in several places on these 'boards. For 2 weeks all is right with the world......THEN.......

Day before yesterday i traveling along one of my usual routes from work. Happily cruising along at a stately and leisurely "somewhere around 90'ish" speed. I look a fair distance down the road, spy a Statie and back off the throttle as if it were genetically coded into my Z-DNA to do so. I slow to 60, get in right hand turtle lane and start praying. Then it hits me .... the X50 didn't beep, chirp, whistle or smack me upside the head. As i realize this i recall that it has been conspicuously silent all day.
Just as THAT realization hits me....i see johnny law in my rearview.

I'll spare everyone the list of expletives that resulted from my encounter with Senor Smokey. Heres the real issue.....my x50 seems dead. Sure it powers up, self-tests, does its normal routine when i power it on. But it DOESNT DETECT RADAR SIGNALS anymore!!! I've tried eveyrthing, even the "reset procedure." Drove back and forth in front of my local drug-store, nothing.....even asked a City cop parked next to me at Starbucks to light me up as a test......nada (which elicited a snide remark from Officer Rodriguez...but hey i asked for it).

Anybody seen/heard of this w/ the 8500s? Better still, any Auto Electronics geniuses here that can tell me that i somehow "cooked" it by hardwiring into the Mirror plug?

Please tell me that the TX State police arent using reverse-engineered Alien technology from Roswell to create devices that fry Radar Detectors!!!
