The video input is RCA.

I'll take some pictures this weekend of route guidance. The route shows as an overhead map with the turn highlighted, and a meter that shows distance as well as the distance in numbers. The map can be set as 3d or top down.

Buying the full system you need:
Head Unit
Navigation
Wiring Harness
DashKit

If you want XM you need the XM receiver box and an antenna. If you want voice recognition you need the kit for that.

The screen is the front of the head unit, when you insert a cd/dvd the screen slides down.

As for mp3's I have not tried it but others that have it say you can burn dvd-r's with mp3's. The interface shown in the manual shows a folder listing you scroll through and select. I'll grab a mp3 cd from my old car and try it out tomorrow.

Awesome install of the 7015, I am thinking of getting one myself.

I do have a few questions though...

1) I have yet to find a picture of the HU when it is opened to pop in CDs and I am curious if there is anything that could get in the way of it opening. Would you mind describing how it opens, and maybe supply a pic with it opened?

2) I am trying to decide wether to install it where you did or the factory nav location. Why did you go with that location vs. the other?

Thanks for your input.

being that i am military i was able to purchase this head unit from AAFES for $899 (free shipping/no tax). i sold my kvt-911dvd so i could get this one instead. the 911 doesn't play mp3's/wma's so this one suits me better. plus i love the way this head unit sits in the dash. can't wait to get mine.

Pat D: great job on the install! looks awesome!

here ya go welowe:

Dash kit

Wiring Harness

Sirius tuner

Sirius antenna

Nav voice control (I skipped this)

The sirius/voice control could probably be gotten cheaper on ebay.

Yes it has voice guidance, the front speakers mute and the front left gives you verbal directions.

I did not have the bose system. Installation was soldering the wiring harness to the kenwood wiring harness, then plugging that into the head unit and the factory wiring harness in the dash. I haven't replaced my speakers (yet), that is a later project.

This won't fit in the factory nav location, there isn't enough room.

Unfortunately no. Before I put in the nav that drove me crazy, but now I just leave the nav as the background.

Hey Pat D,
Does the Metra Dash Kit require cutting? I noticed that the trim is for a dual din. Did you have to cut out the center divider in order to use?, or is there another kit? Thanks.

Yep, you just snip out the centre piece and sand/file it back (could even use the wife's nail file LOL).

Very simple, takes 2 minutes.
