I would like to know also. I have a Kenwood tuner that takes sirius but a couple of my friends have xm and Ive heard it but not sirius. Also the main reason I dont have it is because I dont want to mount the antenna on the roof. Heard u could mount it on the rear strut bar, but I have my back glass tinted so I dont think it will work....someone prove me wrong? Or other possible mounting possitions?

sirius or xm atenna on the rear strut will work - tinted glass or not. I personally have sirius, tinted windows and the antenna on the rear strut ar

As far as which service is better - its personal choice. Channels, Djs, supporting electronic manufacturers are all factors...

The content of xm and sirius are alike.
In trying to figure on witch is right for you keep in mind what they offer.
Xm offers nascar, baseball, all sorts of music.
While sirius will offer howard stern, eminem and basically the same music.
Im going with sirius. Howard stern = da man.
As for why sirius has the larger antena, I have no clue.

I discovered that you can listen and try each for free on the internet.

So far, I prefer Sirius.

It's a personal preference. You may want to subscribe for a free 1 week test sample on the website (sirius.com) to listen to the stations & then decide. Just make sure that you choose satellite ready HU that directly hard wires the Receiver. The sound is definitely a BIG improvement from a FM modulator set up. It is CD quality.

Is that an Audiovox receiver?

Did you have to mod the cubby hole to fit it in there?

Yes, it is an Audiovox PNP 2. I followed Zboater's set-up below:

I've had my Sirius hooked up for about two weeks... picture of antenna location is below. So far zero issues with reception.

I was told that the signal will not pass through metallic tint. But most people have standard tint, so its usually not a problem.

I'm in the same boat, but there is one HUGE difference between the two. Sirius has lower digital compression in their audio vs XM. My boss has Sirius, and when listening to music on a clean audio system, it was like listening to a really bad quality MP3. I then went down to Best Buy, and compared the audio quality of the two services, and sure enough, there was a very noticable difference between Sirius and XM, which was a big dissappointment to me, because I want the Sirius service, but I am so sensitive to digital artifacts in compressed music, that I would not be able to listen to the music.

Therefore I am going with XM.

Since I have Sunday Ticket on my home satellite service, and I never leave the house on Sundays, the NFL thing was not important to me.

I'd have your boss check his system again. I have now listened extensively to MP3s, store bought CDs, DVDs, Satellite stations, and regular radio stations. On my system, the MP3s, CDs, and Satellite all sound fantastic! Great digital quality... very clean and clear. The DVD playback is also clean but for some reason plays back at slightly lower level than the other formats (for example, if I play at 10 on Sirius, I may have to turn up to 15-16 to hear a DVD at the same output level).

The only thing I have had any sound quality issues with is the regular radio tuner on my DDX7015. It just does not seem to pick up my local stations as well as the stock unit and those that it does, the sound quality is not as good as the other sources. Not a big deal for me since I listen almost exclusively to Sirius now!

I have both, and prefer XM over Sirius. You can go to the websites of both and setup a free 3 day membership and listen online to see which you prefer.

I don't care what anyone says, XM without question, has better audio quality than Sirius. I bought an XM receiver, and then took my bosses Sirius receiver, and we compared them side by side on a decent stereo system (using each units car kit with the antenna on the dashboard). With just 10 seconds of listening to each one, it was painfully obvious which brand sounds better.

XM wins the audio quality battle - hands down!

I can't believe I didn't buy satellite radio sooner. I can't even begin to compare it to standard radio, as it is in a class al by itself. Everyone should have satellite radio.

you can also mount some of the antenna's in front of your gauge cluster on your dash. (looks a bit like a "T") that's where mine is going...1 hour to install...

I have Sirius, my wife has XM. I like the content on Sirius better.

Sirus has a deal: $499 lifetime subscription.....but the small print says lifetime of the receiver.

LIFETIME OF THE RECEIVER ???

Default New TERK SIRMINI antenna

If you do not like your large bulky Sirius antenna. You may want to upgrade with the smallest & most powerful New TERK Sirius antenna available. I did & this is an extra antenna I bought & now don't need (CHEAP). See below:
