I have been reading on the Alpine ipod controller for awhile now. I have an ipod and I have an Alpine CDA-7998 HU. Will my HU work with the controller?

I have been researching on the internet and some say the controller will only work with 2004 Ai-Net Head Units but some others say that the 7998 could work. Does anyone know a definite answer?
