Question HU Install in Automatic?

I have seen the pics and read the how to's for removing the center console in a manual, but does anyone have any pics or details for taking apart the center console in an automatic? Or is it the same? Because the ring around the automatic shifter does not seem to budge at all. In fact, it almost looks as though it is a molded part of the whole circle, including the plastic with the various letters on it (P, N, R, D, +, -)

It's the same. The only difference is in removing the bottom panel. I suggest you place the car in neutral to remove it. Otherwise the shifter gets in the way.

The ring you are talking about does in fact come right out. I do not remember exactly how I did it but I believe I used a small flat-tip screw drive with tape and just pried it right out!

Yeah, It just lifts right out, and the center console is super easy to take out.

Thanks!

Now if I could only figure out where to mount the Alpine DVA-300 brain unit.

Hmmmm .....
