I emailed Eclipse, they have an aux connector but it is for their cd unit. They recommended using the periphal connection. Here is what they said:
Thank you for contacting Eclipse
Hi Randy,
There is a peripheral device that goes through the changer port. It does not display artist and title but you can control tracks and it does charge the unit. part # pxdp and pxhec1.

http://www.eclipse-web.com/cable/index.html
this is the only thing i seen on their website
i think this might work but it depends on the connection on the back of the 5435

No it won't work. That was the reason why I contacted Eclipse inquiring about the cable. I would contact them, see if they tell you differently. I ran into this when I ordered the 5495. My dealer contacted their rep about if the 5495 would be able to do Sirius later on (A seperate tuner or software) they said no-not ever. Then I called Eclipse and was told that they would have a software update in November. So I said screw it and went with the 5435.

Not a dumb question at all. I had to do the same thing. The middle splitter can easily be removed with a razor blade or Exacto knife. Once you get the cut started it cuts easily.
