Default G35 SEDAN install with no floor raised :)

just got done with another g35, this time a 04 sedan.

the goals are:

1. good sound quality

2. fully stealth trunk install with no floor raising

3. nav and dvd playback capability

now, this car is a lot more difficult to pull off a flat floor set up than the coupe.. the coupe has a long wide well running down the entire length of hte trunk, where as the sedan only has a smaller spare tire well offset to the back and passenger side of the trunk.

meaning, in order to do NOT raise the floor at all, every single piece of gear has to be contained in the well...something that involves the picking the right equipment and doing the right kind of install

so lets get started:

anchoring hte signal upfront is the pioneer avic-d2 nav unit in there via the double din conversion kit:

since hte d2 does not have dvd playback capability, a fahrenheit half din dvd player is flush mounted in the upper glove box. its remote eye is located on top of the dash so the unit can be operated with the box closed

here they are working together:

speakers in the G consists of a DLS ultimate Up6 6.5" compnent set upfront, with the midbass in the stock location, albeit sitting in a fiberglassed semi-sealed cup, and the tweeter flushed into the stock kick panels, out back, DLS 426 component coaxials provide sound for the rear passengers. since it was kinda dark i could only get two fuzzy pics of the kicks

now here is the trunk, as you can see, in full stealth mode, the floor was not raised even a millimeter, the stock trunk carpet remains to provide a completely stock look:

lifting off this carpet reveals first a simple protective board that covers the spare tire well, with some mesh for air to pass through

here is the heart of the system. a ED 13kv2 is sitting in its flush suede trimed area, and a cover in the back features a raised infinity logo. the rest of hte top cover is finished in black vinyl

lifting the cover reaveals a DLS CA51 5 channel amp sitting in its own suede lined well, with wires passing through grommits. the sub sends over 50 watts to each interior speaker, and over 300 real world watts to the 13kv2 there is a plexi cover above the well with my logo on it

and at night, a flick of a switch throws some white lighting onto the well

and finally, if you are wondering how the sub can possiblly have enough air space, well, a wierd looking semi-circular sub box is used to get about 1 cubic feet, the box sits in the forward half of the spare tire well so there is room for the amp rack behind it

overall, sounds great, and abosltuely no loss of trunk space, i havent had the chance to do this kind of install in this particular kind of trunk well...hopefully iw ill get to do some more in the future

another great install man.....looks amazing

I'll hopefully have my car back Wednesday from my installer. You should know that I have showed them a few of your install pics as inspiration for what I wanted (pics convey it better than words I think). I'm all about a stealthy install, and you definitely "get it"

keep it up!
