Default Alpine LCD in the 350Z

Hi, I have just worked on my friend's 350Z recently. I custom installed an Alpine Tme-m760 6.5inch lcd into his car. The Lcd fits prefectly with some proper cutting. Here are some pix:

It looks like the bottom and sides are cut off... unless the pics are wrong... was it an easy install beside that?

getting ready to do this myself... could you outline the areas you cut? Also, how did you cut it? I'm sure my jigsaw would make mensed meat out of that plastic.

was cutting absolutely needed? I thought I saw some installs without cutting? I'm thinking of getting this screen but if I have to cut.... I think I might go back to the drawing board.... trying to keep everything as stock looking as possible without making any changes to the car.

then go with a FARENHEIT T-7001MHR! It is a widescreen LCD and requires 0 cutting! You would end up with more "viewing" are in the dash too since it has no external buttons! The LCD will completely fill that up corner to corner and sits 99% perfectly flush!

thanks kj-350.
I originally thought about using the 7001 but after rouxeny's review
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....hlight=pioneer
I decided to look else where since I will be primarily using this for Nav and rather have the clean text...

Anyone hookup the Xenarc with an alpine or pioneer nav?

Default Installed the same monitor...

My installer installed the same monitor. Except it isnt flush behind the pocket. It is actually in front of the pocket, where you can see the edges of the monitor. It doesnt look bad, and we were worried that if we tried to flush it, you would see edges of cut plastic.

Here is a pic.

Default Cutting

I am thinking about getting the same apline screen,

So please tell us why the cutting was needed, because there
are many installs that required no cutting.

he obviously cut to make room for the buttons that are on the side of the screen, tho he did a great job and you would never imagine that it was cut... looks totally stock..

youd only run into problems if you wanted to remove it, but Id imagine that part is about 5$ at most.

installs did not require cutting "I think" so if anyone has any info
on the Alpine LCD screen installation. PLease post

which ALpine HU is that?

does it send track data (mp3 names etc. ) the the screen? or just video?

BTW has anyone figured out how to bypass the Alpine safety feature that prevents use of any input besides NAV while driving??

btw - another advantage of the tme650 is the 3 additional inputs besides the NAV. One has a mirror mode and automatically switches to that input when the reverse light is senses (backup cam!!)

So far, every single Alpine monitor that has been installed in the 350Z has had to have some "minor" cutting done to make it fit, including mine. The Fahrenheit monitors, from what I have seen on this board, do not require any cutting.
(Alpine TME-M760 and 7996 HU, BEL 875 Remote Radar)

Default how's that 7996?

Hey Anyone2u,
How do you like your HU? I was thinking about putting that same 7996 in mine too...DVD w/ DTS worth the expense over an Alpine CD only?
