I've been powering my lilliput hardwired into the car for over 2 years now and it has been fine... there's a voltage regulator on my monitor that I thought takes care of this issue..

The reason why i don't have it on my CarPC PS is because i run other things off the monitor as well like my xbox and reverse camera.. I'd have to turn the computer on everytime i wanted to use that..

I have my Dynamix 7" wired directly to power because of the reverse camera (even though I still don't have that installed cause I can't bring myself to mount it), no issues here yet and its been at least a year and a half at least.

I wired mine to my PSU because it gets instant power when I hit the power button on the unit (less switches/buttons to deal with). I can see where it would be a hassle for you other guys though...

I stripped down a Windows Media Center remote control that I had gathering dust. I'm hoping to mount this in the center console so I have the push-button option as well as the touchscreen. I'll put it between the switch for the hazard warning lights and the parking brake, taking out the coin tray.

Sorry about the crappy picture, my digi-cam sucketh the big one.

I like the idea of the remote in the console, I may have to barrow it.... where is my jigsaw?

Urban I will look for the files i think they may be on my home computer, I am at college now.

Here's the keyboard solution for those times when the on screen keyboard just wont do the trick - 3"x2" usb thumbpad...

http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/...y+Keyboard.htm

That's awesome! I'll be mounting that on a little bracket right in front of the gear shift below the climate controls, will probably make it so it's hard wired in on a retractable cord.

I have one of these, I just keep it in the center elbow box for when I need it. I only use it about once a month. You might want to keep it loose until you know how much you will need it.

It is missing some key buttons like TAB and CTRL, ALT, DELETE

Sometimes if I am doing some mobile skin modding, I use a slim keyboard I keep in the pocket on the passenger seat. Normally it is not even plugged in.

Also, on MP3car, there is an application that lets you use a game pad for pc controls, so you can buy a cheap game pad, bust it apart if you like.

Just ordered mine now, that was a killer price - less than half the price it is at MP3Car, total $14 inc tax and shipping. I think I may try and get it in the coin tray in the console, it would be cool if I could jimmy it to appear just under the flip top.

Yeah for real configuration I'll crack out my mini USB keyboard which I'll probably keep in the main luggage compartment where the PC will live.

Ahh fun stuff

Well it is bigger than the ash tray lid and for fast typing, you want to hold it, it is like a blackberry keyboard really.

I have this mini keyboard too.. hate typing long sentences on it and like HyperSprite said.. it's missing some important keys.. ESC is the one I missed the most..

but I remapped F10 to ESC using Tradekeys <-- a must have app if you are going to use this keyboard..

I'm not even sure how much it will get used, but I figured it would be handy to have it around - and for $14 no biggy.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I love my little keyboard, I'm just warning against taking time to mount it until you know how much you are going to use it.

The screen and M2 are scheduled fordelivery today so I'm pretty pumped. Going to try and get off work half day so I can get home and start ripping my dash to pieces.

Sure thing. I may be meeting a buddy from work at a fun car show on Sunday in San Marcos, hopefully it will all be up and running by then.
