What is your screen hooked up to? I though you where running a CarPC? Or is it a all-in-one solution screen?

Oh, no I'm not running a CarPC. My screen is hooked up to the a/v switch so that all video out goes to the TV screen and all audio out goes to my speakers. I have the video wire from my head unit going to one input, xbox going to another, if i wanna hook up Garmin GVN52 nav, I will have it going to another input, etc..

Yeah. The DVA series Alpine I know have a video out. If you are going to have a head unit that plays DVDs it would make sense to be able to have a screen to watch them on right? The background is usually some blue swirly thing and you can download backgrounds from www.alpine-usa.com but this guy figured out how to crack alpines .apn wallpapers that you can load onto the head unit and made a bunch and put them on his website. I found the Nissan one on the website, burned it to a disc, inserted the disc into the head unit and it automatically updated the background. You can have 2 backgrounds saved on the head unit. One was blue and one was red. Now its the Nissan one and the Tila Tequila one. Hope that makes sense.

Budweiser4me,
When (and if) you get that power inverter installed, please post back to this (your) thread. I’ve subscribed to your thread, and I think other Forum members have as well.

Running the Xbox 360 isn’t easy to do in a 12v environment since this device uses a significant amount of power (It needs 200w ). I installed a big inverter in my off-road FWD rig, but I had plenty of room for two Optima batteries hooked to a power management controller. And, I didn’t have to make it look “pretty” in this environment (a big and ugly FWD). I used this setup to run things like a cooler, water heater, and air compressor. I’m not sure how I would do this in the Z. I would imagine that your installation would be similar to what the guys installing car-PCs do.

It sounds as though you’re busy with school and classes, and that is more important. So, don’t feel any pressure to do a posting anytime soon.

Just read your unfortunate wreck story in the General Forum. Sorry to hear this, but glad you are OK. Certainly the inverter question is way back in the list of your priorities at this time.

^^ The following monitors are the same:

Farenheit T-7000MHR
Power Acoustik PT-700MHR
NESA Vision NSM-7005

They are made in Korea by the same company and sold under different brand names.

Nice install! In that last pic it looks like the remote is kind of "floating."

Yeah, floating remotes are pretty expensive.

Haven't got around to this thread in a long time due to the wreck, but I now have a new Z (2004 Touring model). I was able to get all of my audio/video equipment out of the old Z and it has been sitting in my apartment waiting to be installed. I plan on doing the same head unit/screen install, though this time I will be running component front speakers powered by a nice amp. I am still trying to decide how to incorporate the power inverter into this install. I appreciate all the positive responses. Will post up when I get everything re-installed + the extra stuff. Hope everyone is doing well.
