I ended up just bending the brackets a little and it's flush now and looks great, only thing I couldn't figure out was the speed sensor wire, no clue where that is, tried searching the forums and didn't understand what the wire diagram sticky was saying so that's all i need to hook up for it to be 100% done. If anyone could fill me in on that it would be appreciated

Hey fellas, the AVIC-D3 is a nice unit indeed (once you do the bypasses)! I just put one in my Impreza and I'm probably going to be getting another one for my Z. Just a FYI, you can probably get away with putting the GPS antenna under the plastic trim for the gauge pods, GPS will go through plastic (mine is under the clock pod in my impreza)... stealth FTMFW! In addition I didn't hookup the VSS wire and it's still accurate as hell.

In my impreza:

1. Where do you run the bluetooth stuff in the Z?

2. Is the reverse wire for the 2007 350z also teal?

I am all over the VSS wire. Wondering if there is access to the reverse wire up front so I don't have to run a wire all the way in the back.

i'm not sure if this is my first post or not. but I was wondering if you guys recommend me trying this for my first stereo install or should i get it installed by a shop. I have a complete stock stereo but im buying the d3 and a jl sub (not sure if one 12 or two tens: which is better) and an amp.

And any one with an iphone using the d3 with the ipod plugin? I think it would be sick if you had the plug come up somewhere in the open and connect a dock to it so when u get into the car you can just stick your iphone into the dock and bam. and another side question: is it possible to get the bluetooth to work with the iphone?

sorry for all the questions and don't mean to jack the thread.
but great job on the install I really want to try this.

the install can be done yourself, it's not difficult at all. this write-up is VERY helpful and will easily walk you through it in detail.

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=278145

don't be afraid to give it a shot, most shops will charge a pretty penny and even extra to do the simple bypass.

as for the iphone, i'm not sure exactly how it will work with the d3. i know some of the new gen. ipod's dont work with this unit. you can go on avic411.com and search it, they have plenty of threads there that cover what works and what doesn't.
