don't forget money I tied a fiberglass box for my previous car three years ago and spent about 120 bucks in resin and fiberglass sheets and it turned into one heavy paper weight.

UPDATE 5/6/08

Well, just when I think I am about to finish... I forget how cursed this build has been.

One of my 11kv.2's has a leak around a mounting point. I can just barely put my finger over it and seal it... after taking the sub out and inspecting, it looks like a TINY spot where there is no glue. Ugh. I haven't heard of anyone else having an abundance of these problems so I just assume I have the worst luck ever.

Anyhow, Casey at eD gave me the choice of a new sub or some glue to fix this one.. I chose the glue since I could get it much faster than a new sub, and I might just learn something in the process.

Here are a couple of pics that a snapped before discovering the leak.

Put down some weather stripping...

Subs mounted..

And thats all.. I pushed gently on the dust caps and head the whoosh that has plagued me so this build... Hopefully this will get taken care of soon...

it looks like the right sub is slightly off. The lettering doesn't match up with the left sub. Please don't hurt me if I'm right and let this get to your head. sorry. But nice install!

What do you think about using the rear speaker areas for small subs? I don't know how successful it will be but I'm going to try it out. I'm going to pull out the rear speakers and seal off the cavity as best I can with dynomat and then plop in a JL Audio 6W3v3.

I'm going to try and cut the dynomat so it is just one sheet to minimize the seams. I know it won't be sealed as well as a normal enclosure, but I don't want to fill up the back with speakers because I want to keep the little space I have back there. Also I just want to try it out since I haven't seen anyone else try it yet. (there might be a reason for that)

There are some other people on here who have done it..
I dunno.. I went with a single 10 and it wasnt enough for me, I doubt I would be happy with 2 6.5"....but the others who posted have seemed happy with it.

I put some CDT ES06's in the factory rear speaker locations, and it sounded awful. Don't waste your time.

I guess it also depends on what your goal is. Are you trying to let the neighbors know when you're home by shaking their window panes (I've had that kind of system before), or are you just trying to fill in the lower fequencies at a normal listening level (or somewhere in between)? I am shooting for the latter of the two, but you're right, it might not be enough.

I've already bought the speakers and I'm going to install them this weekend. If its not enough, then I'll have to figure something else out.

You're right, there's a reason people don't make sub boxes out of metal, which is what you'd be doing.

Any idea what kind of volume you have in there? I'm thinking about a similar box design but going a little wider to get more volume and making 2 separate boxes so it will fit.

Not really sure.. didn't bother to measure it out.

Everything is installed now.... I put it in last night. It sounds good to me.
I'll have pictures up today or tomorrow.. I tried to take some last night but they came out really bad with the light.
