Build in progress
WOOHOO!!! $200 to wrap both doors in a black vinyl. If he needs to do a french stitch on the edge then he will also wrap the arm rests and put the same stitching around the edges of the arm rests too. It will be a black vinyl with gray stitching. I may have pics of the finished product on Tuesday.
It's actually pretty easy! The hardest thing is taking everything apart and coming to terms with the fact that you're getting ready to destroy a door. Even though I upgraded it, if I couldn't do it or messed it up more then I would be out some bucks to replace the door panels.
Give it a shot, it's fun, relaxing, and it gives you much more pride in your car and craftsmanship.
So with the door panels at the upholstery shop I had some time to take care of the sail panels where the stock tweeters were. I didn't want there to be a false look of tweeters in the sail panels so I sanded everything smooth and filled them with bondo. A little more sanding and some painting... Now they are smooth flat black stock looking sail panels.
This project is coming along great and I cannot wait to see the finished product! I am deploying in a couple days so it will be on hold for a couple months till I get back. Hopefully I can finish before I leave... we'll see!

I got back a little early and had nothing more than assemble the doors till the project was done. Here it is:
Passenger door

Close up of the passenger pod

Driver door

Another angle of the passenger door, the angles flow nicely with the car

Notice also the sail panels are covered and painted... Everything turned out very nice and looks excellent. The only issue is some of the spots on the driver door have wrinkles in the vinyl. You cannot see them when the door is closed but it still looks very good.
Installed on car so far:
Pioneer AVIC Z-2
Alpine PDX 4.150
Diamond Audio D6 Components
Next will be a trunk sub system, not for a few months...

Yea, the vinyl looks out of place right now but in the next month or so I'll have some leather seats to match and make the doors look a little more suitable for the interior.
