It did fit perfectly, no changes needed, all you have to do is take out the box out of the 03 compartment and thats it.

you think it'd be possible to stain the cover to match better? like possibly rubbing black shoe polish on it or anything that could stain it to be darker? haha

Actually I was looking at the cover on my '04 and it might be removeable. It looks like the cover unscrews from the part that is actually connected to the dash and flips up. I'm not sure what the '03 looks like though.

Is it very hard to write your own software?
And I noticed you have "Internet" there.. Is it you have to connect to a cell to go online??
This is a neat mod for non-nav owner...

One more stupid question.... You have it startup once you start up the car.... but do u need to wait for XP to quit though? Do you have to switch it off b4 u switch off the engine or u just cut the power right away..... Just a stupid thought came in to my mind...

aalzuhair: couldn't you have made the PC sit flush with the front of the mailbox slot by removing or dremelling out the back of the plastic box? Also, just curious. Why did you chose to put it there instead of the glovebox behind the passenger seat?

I have my DVD player in the mailbox slot and my PC in the glovebox.

Pretty sure he doesn't have the plastic box there. No way you can fit a PC with the box still there.

Cool stuff. How often do U guys actually use your In Car PCs? I have Navi in my car and I find it worthless most of the time. But it's extremely helpful on road trips. I'm sure there are GPS Navigation programs out there that you could run right?

I use mine all the time. I use the Nav on trips (especially to cities I don't know), run DVD's (music videos actually), occasionally watch the TV (usually for sports scores), since I have over 1000 songs on my HD, I ALWAYS use it as a "jukebox"!

Now I have the Digimoto OBD II and that is a fun little toy to play with as well.

To answer all the questions that was raised :

peter,
I could not figure out how to hook up the PC to the Boss system so, I going with the easy way and get an FM modulator

malukalu,
the total on the set-up was around $1100

andycapp,
I tried to remove the lid from the '04 compartment, but then (After taking it out ) I noticed that the design is much different, if you do figure it out, please let me know.

neocypher and Nismo350 Thanks guys

hazu,
Thanks as mentioned above its around $1100 for the whole thing (Screen, touch panel, CPU and other stuff). And on the software, I have no clue. And yes the internet is through my cell phone . On the startup issue, the CPU to my surprise is very fast to stratup and shut down and I have the CPU power hooked directly the battery.

Dr Bonz,
actually I have taken out the mailbox thing and I could not have it sit flush with the front, because the CPU is about "2 longer than the depth. And I have it there, rather the glove box, for one reason heat and we have a lot of that This was its in the way of the A/C air flow and has one fan exposed.

Donald0730,
I use the PC almost every time I use the car for the same reasons that Dr. Bonz mentioned expect for the NAV (I don't have one )

I hope I got every ones question, anyway, if you are planning on doing this I strongly suggest that you get extra (like 10 ) clips for the side panels, because I broke about one and found out that Nissan dealer down here, had opened that place before, and I don’t know way. I found some broken clips.

Remember everyone, If you don't not want to build you own, I sell the "IN Z PC" and offer several different types of units. Dr Bonz has one of my units along with many other members. Pm me for more info.

Good Job aalzuhair, Now if we can just get your ODB II unit to work

Does the PC shut down properly on its own... when you switch off the car engine... or you have to shut down manually everytime.. (Press start->Turn off computer)
