The wireless NIC is for updating my MP3 and video collection when I'm parked at home. Also I guess it could be used for internet access if I happen to find an open access point anywhere. Most of the USB devices are mounted in the area under the stereo. There's actually a pretty good amount of room there.

It's the 2004 motorized nav door.

I think most of the time was taken by the controller for the motorized door and writing the interface software. If you're doing neither then hopefully it won't take as long. I can't remember what the GPS receiver is but I'll see if I can find out. I removed it from the case and mounted it inside the dash. For software, I'm using iGuidance 2 which, with a couple tweaks, is pefect for touchscreen use.

I wish I could take credit for many of the ideas I've used but much it has been done before in one form or another although I think I do put my own twist on some things. Thanks for the comments though!

To be honest, I haven't had too much time to get the wireless LAN connection working. I did try it but I think the garage is a little to far from my access point. I'll probably need a signal booster or something.

Is there any chance you could share the details of your motorized door install? You also mentioned writing interface software ... any chance you'd be willing to share that (for a small donation ;-)? I've been gathering up my own parts list and the only thing that been holding me back is figuring out the best way to operate the devices and/or software via a touchscreen monitor.
