That friend was me that blew the main fuse. Nope I did not cross wires it must have grounded the wire or something though becuase i was actually just peeling the insulation then a huge spark came out and my car would not start. it was not on or anything no keys in the ignition nothing. My advice is to really just pull the neg terminal because that experience sucked! ..those are liek 10-12 awg wires as opposed to regular 20awg that are regularly used so just be careful.

Here's my button with the Evo-R carbon fiber dash kit..

1. planning it out.. I just did the lazyman approach and traced the top of button itself Lots of maskng tape to make sure i don't crack the carbon fiber..

2. Not the neatest hole but a very snug fit and it's all covered up anyways

3. I wrapped the top of my button with black electrical tape so it's not shiny.. It makes the gap not appear as bad IMHO.. it's being held in the back with epoxy glue and 3M tape.. sucker is not moving lol

4. Mine must have been installed a tad bit lower because I didn't have to dremel that plastic support to make it fit!

5. Taaadaaa finished!

Awesome! I'll be adding my new Evo-R kit in a couple weeks, hopefully! I think I'm also going to paint the chrome trim ring a matte silver to match the rest of the interior trim.

I think this button would look look even better underneath my single din deck. Just what would i use to fabricate it in the pocket would be the hard part. Thanks for the write up...

correct me if i was wrong.....isn't that supposed to be the pin 30 of the relay? .....not pin 87 as you mention above.

Wow, that looks OEM! What was in that location that it's already indented like that with a nice, circular place for the button? Or is that entire panel custon fabbed?

Thanks for the compliments guys, I was very pleased with the outcome as well. Regarding to the placement that is actually the cigarette lighter that i removed and refitted the hole to the s2k button.

Damn the luck. My '06 doesn't have a stock looking spot like the cig lighter section there. I'm going to have to look around a little to find a good stock looking spot.

Here's my stab at it. I try real hard to keep my car looking stock so i mounted this sucker in the left air vent. I am VERY happy with the result. I retained the ring around the vent and color matched the plastic and it looks like a stock button. Here you go......

Dang, are you crazy!?!? That's the better vent out of the two that you have on the driver side. You know how hot it can get in the summer. I'd never do that. I love my AC too much.

that is pretty crafty, but he is right, I would miss that vent waaaay too much, its the only one that does anything. I did a couple *quick* chops of the button on the other vent if you covered that over.

Then I had the idea well what about the door panel where the window switches and stuff is. I know it would probably stick out a little from underneath, but that could be taken care of.

I've used my AC twice in 2 years. But i'm originally from Cali and we always have the windows down... I also tested out how it feels and it was fine for me.
