Tosser of the year award..?
Has anybody bought the latest motor - the one with the PCOTY?
I was reading through the letters to the editor - one guy (a BMW M3 owner) was saying how he couldn't believe that Nissan was saying the 350z competes with the S2000, the Monaro, the M3, the porsche boxter etc. He thought the car should be more compared to the Celica, the Hyundai Triburon and Integra Type R... and he was assuring us all that himself and his BMW M3/M5 friends had NEVER considered purchasing a NISSAN of all things when shopping for a car....
I was literally sick after reading the letter....

I also considered a E46 M3 but after speaking to my accountant, I now own a Z. Well in a weeks time anyway.
If money was not a concern than I would of bought the M3. Even though more than 150 of their motors have blown.

I read that letter too, in fact it prompted to write a reply and send it in to Motor. However, last Tuesday when the mailman dropped off my new copy of Motor, much to my dismay, my letter had not been published.....which wasnt really that susprising.
Heres the letter i wrote to Motor in reply to that M3 ****. Enjoy!
Having been a loyal subscriber to Motor for over 3 years now, every week I look forward to not only the great articles, but also the often mindless, irrational and idiotic clap trap that emanates from the minds of fellow readers in Write-Off.
One such letter in last months issue, written by a Nathan van den Bosch, an alleged M3 owner, caught my eye. The thought of an M3 owner actually forcing himself to take the time to construct a letter justifying his purchase decision over a similar performing but accessibly cheaper Nissan 350Z, left me chuckling not unlike a teenagers first puff of weed.
We often come across such letters in Write-Off whenever new metal is released and generates nothing but praise in the articles that assess its talents. Not to mention the unholy circumstances of a cheaper car offering similar if not better performance over more expensive established rivals. Queue the letter writing hacks who own V8 Aussie cars in defense of the dreaded and ego bruising WRX.
Mr. Bosch loses all integrity when he starts to question Nissan’s marketing ploy. If he is seeking illusory marketing he should look no further than the very company who manufacture his beloved M3. Surely there can be no ‘sheer driving pleasure’ in a 105kw 1320kg 318i Executive approaching 70K on road.
And Motor’s response…..where was the humour, the appreciable wit to shut this fool up. Oh well I guess its up to me. Don’t worry Nathan mate, you’ve got yourself a great car. You don’t need to write in to convince yourself otherwise. Just those who have purchased a 350Z can enjoy similar performance for a price that would leave your butt unclenched each month.
And for the Boxster, maybe you readers should purchase some of the Best Motoring DVD’s advertised in this magazine, and see what a 350Z can do to a Boxster out on the track.
